Hi! I’m Dr. Lindsay Hill, your psych NP mentor. I’m a small-town midwest girl who moved to Arizona with big dreams. I wear many hats- private practice owner, mentor, mom and podcaster with BIG dreams to help new psychiatric nurse practitioners find community, resources, and support to do your job with more confidence and competence.
In 2015, I graduated from Arizona State University with my Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree. I had landed my dream job, but I was overwhelmed and basically paralyzed by fear at the reality of actually having to START my job. I had a recurring nightmare that I was in a clinic that resembled a hotel my first day as a psych NP with a line of clients out the door and no support. I would spend countless hours researching certification and licensure, best treatment options for clients, and templates and resources to help me do my job. I felt scared and alone.
It became apparent that while I was technically licensed to do my job, I wasn’t prepared for the rough waters ahead. Through much trial and error, I discovered powerful strategies I desperately needed to become a more competent and confident PMHNP. I found the support and mentorship I needed to not just survive my job but thrive. I created templates and handouts that helped me do my job more efficiently, leading to more work life balance. I integrated psychotherapy into my sessions with clients, leading to improved client outcomes.
Want to know what gets me so hyped? Helping psych np students and new grads feel empowered, competent, and confident in their new roles. We were all new at one time, and my passion is to help smooth your transition into the psych np role, giving you the guidance and support you deserve.
